Install Trusted Certificates

The ES&H Section uses a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) on all pages that require a username and password.   SSL ensures that all communication between your web browser and this web site is encrypted.   This web server uses a certificate signed (i.e. validated) by The DOE Certificate Service.   It is necessary to install the DOE Grid and the ESNet certificates as a "trusted" authorities to get rid of those annoying security alert popups.   To install the Certificates follow the directions below.

Internet Explorer
  1. Click ESNet Certificate
  2. Click "Open"
  3. Click "Install Certificate..."
  4. Click "Next >"
  5. Click "Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate"
  6. Click "Next >"
  7. Click "Finish"
  8. Click "Yes" Note: this appears for the first certificate only.
  9. Click "OK" twice
Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox and other Mozilla-derived broswers
  1. Click ESNet Certificate
  2. Click "Trust this CA to identify web sites."
  3. Click "OK" button.
Repeat the process above using the DOE Grid Certificate instead of the ESNet certificate in step 1.   Note: Select the "Import the CA certificate chain into your browser" option.
