The First International Workshop on EGS4 was successfully held at KEK, High Energy Accelerator Research Organization, from August 26 to 29 with the participants over 100 including 12 overseas ones. At the workshop, 34 talks were presented from the low-energy problems to the high-energy ones in the various research fields like the medical physics, particle or nuclear physics etc. The proceedings of this workshop will be published as the KEK proceedings. It will be announced when it will be available. Next International Workshop will be held in 2000 again at KEK. The short course on EGS4 was also held from August 24 to 25 before the workshop. About 50 participants learned about EGS4 and did practices to install the EGS4 system or to use it.
