Soon after the Fermilab meteorological station first became operational it captured data during an annular solar eclipse. As can be seen in the graph below, both the solar radiation and air temperature measurements at noon and 1pm (CST) decreased noticeably. The photograph above was taken at the approximate time of maximum coverage as viewed from northeastern Illinois. The background image shows multiple crescents generated by sunlight filtering through tree leaves during the eclipse.
